Facebook SDK for Unity introduces cross-platform game integration with Facebook

A new cross-platform toolkit for game development engine Unity3D launched today, Facebook announced at Unity 2013, allowing developers to easily integrate Facebook features into their Unity games.

"Whether you're building on iOS, Android, web, or all three, the SDK lets you continue to write in C# and provide social game experiences to all your players, regardless of the platform they play on," Facebook's Aaron Brady wrote on the social network's developer blog. "By filling out a few fields in the developer app and giving us the URL of your game object, you can bring your mobile game to a whole new audience of avid gamers on Facebook."

According to Brady, Cmune's UberStrike, Madfinger's Shadowgun: Deadzone and Nival's King's Bounty: Legions have already implemented the SDK with their respective titles. The SDK is available to download from Facebook's developer site or from the Unity Asset Store.

Unity unveiled support for Xbox One, Xbox 360, Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 in June. The Wii U and Tizen, the Linux-based mobile OS, toolkits for Unity3D are currently available. Unity Technologies announced in May that it will grant indie developers free publishing tools for the development of iOS and Android games.
