Viewtiful Joe, Another World's Lester Knight join Combo Crew

Viewtiful Joe, Capcom's cel-shaded hero is returning in the 2D brawler Combo Crew, developer The Game Bakers announced today.

Joe debuted in the eponymous side-scrolling beat-'em-up, Viewtiful Joe, in 2003. As fans of that game and other 2D brawlers, the developers at The Game Bakers worked with Capcom to bring Joe into Combo Crew.

"Capcom games had a huge impact on my generation and on me personally, as gamer and designer," said Emeric Thoa, creative director at The Game Bakers, in a press release today. "Viewtiful Joe is one of many games, along with God Hand, Final Fight or Street Fighter, that have influenced our direction. [...] We're so grateful to Capcom for letting Joe fight along the Combo Crew cast."

Joe is joining Combo Crew along with Lester Knight, the protagonist of Eric Chahi's seminal 1991 action platformer, Another World (known as Out of This World in North America).

Players can add Joe to their roster of fighters with a $1.99 in-app purchase, while Knight is a free character. Combo Crew itself usually costs $1.99, but it is on sale for $0.99 on both iOS and Android through Sept. 3. You can check out a trailer for Viewtiful Joe in Combo Crew above.
