Dead Rising 3 5K obstacle course races announced

Xbox is teaming up with Run for Your Lives, the creators of the original themed 5K obstacle course race, for a series of Dead Rising 3 races to be held through December around the country, Microsoft announced today.

The series kicks off on Sept. 7 in New Hampshire and concludes with an Austin, Texas run on Dec. 7 at Rusty's Walnut Creek Ranch. Each race has room for up to 10,000 racers. You can find the full list of race locations here.

Each event will start at 8 a.m. local time with a new wave of runners leaving every 30 minutes until about 3:30 p.m..

The races wrap up with an Apocalypse Party that includes music, games and a "celebration of zombie culture."
