Starting this week, PlayStation 3 owners can now purchase content from the PlayStation Store and Sony Entertainment Network using mobile phone accounts based in the U.S., Sony confirmed.
Users can add to their account via PlayStation Store on PS3 or alternatively through the account management tab on the Sony Entertainment Network site. Mobile payment now joins credit cards payment, prepaid cards and PayPal as payment alternatives.
We've contacted Sony for details on whether this system will be made available outside of the U.S.
Update: PlayStation Mobile Operator Billing will also be available in the U.K.
