England coach Gary Neville named FIFA Ultimate Team ambassador

Samit Sarkar (he/him) is Polygon’s deputy managing editor. He has more than 15 years of experience covering video games, movies, television, and technology.

Gary Neville, a coach for England's national soccer team, has joined the EA Sports team as an ambassador for FIFA Ultimate Team, Electronic Arts announced today.

Neville is also one of the players in the Xbox-exclusive Ultimate Team legends mode, as the right back with the most appearances in England's history and a longtime captain of Manchester United. He will pen a column on the EA Sports FIFA website every two weeks to give players tips on Ultimate Team and discuss the goings-on in the world of soccer.

"FIFA has become such an integral part of football culture that I hope to bring benefit to the fans," said Neville in a press release today. "[FIFA Ultimate Team] really is a phenomenal success and you can see why as we all like to think we can manage an Ultimate Team of superstars, I can't wait to see myself out on the (digital) pitch again."

FIFA 14 launches Sept. 24 on Windows PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. It will be available later this year on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
