EverQuest Next's armor sets and organic quests explained

EverQuest Next, Sony Online Entertainment's upcoming next-gen massively multiplayer online game, will allow players to customize armor sets and will change quest details organically, Massively reported from SOE Live 2013.

Armor sets will comprise five pieces. Though EverQuest Next will grant bonuses for equipping sets, players will be free to mix and match and customize from different sets. The developers will also include armor sets that harken back to those from EverQuest and EverQuest 2.

Quests will include an amount of variability, based on the state of the persistent world. For example, a quest could require players to explore a mine, but whether Orcs or Gnomes control the mine will change, depending on the state in the game world at large.

For more on the game, be sure to watch six videos unveiled late last week and read Polygon's interview with SOE president John Smedley, which includes many details about EverQuest Next's emergent AI, destructible environments and more.
