The campaign for Arma 3 will be released as three free DLC episodes after the game launches later this year, developer Bohemia Interactive announced today.
The first episode, "Survive," will launch one month after Arma 3. The latter two, "Adapt" and "Win" will be available in the following months.
Arma 3 will launch with 12 single player missions and nine multiplayer scenarios, as well as three faction showcases, 10 firing drill challenges, 20 vehicles and more than 40 different weapons. Modding support and the game's scenario editor will also be available at launch.
In a press statement, Bohemia stated the decision to launch the campaign as post-launch DLC was to allow the developer more time to polish and "perfect" the content.
"Following an eventful past year, and a splendid reception of the Arma 3 alpha and beta, the studio honestly admits to the difficulties it experienced with its parallel development," reads the statement. "While the team was developing the full game, at the same time it was supporting the alpha and beta. However, since the game has made tremendous progress as a result, Bohemia Interactive felt confident to maintain its quality-over-quantity mind-set and take some additional time to perfect the campaign."
Arma 3 is currently slated to launched during the third quarter this year, with a specific release date to be announced soon.
