Creative England — a national agency that invests in and supports creative digital media — has launched a £1 million video game support fund for developers in South West England.
The funding will be distributed through a program called GamesLab South West, and developers will be able to apply for grants in two rounds of funding, each aimed at facilitating a project at a different point in its development cycle.
The first round is the Development Fund, which is available for small to middle-sized companies who are developing completely new game IP for commercial release. The grants fall between £10,000 and £50,000 and GamesLab is now accepting applications.
The second round is the Prototype Fund, which aims to assist companies in developing a prototype that they can then pitch outside for further investment. Companies can apply for grants of up to £10,000. Applications will open in Q2 of 2014.
More information on the grants and application criteria can be viewed here.
