Ubisoft shakes on Hasbro console games deal

Console titles based on classic board games are set to be launched on current and next generation consoles, following a deal between Hasbro and Ubisoft.

Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Risk, Battleship and Cranium are among the games Ubisoft will be re-imagining for consoles. Hasbro games are already available for Windows, Mac, Android, iOS and various social platforms via an agreement with Electronic Arts.

The Ubisoft deal is the latest foray by Hasbro into video gaming. In July, the company bought Backflip, the company behind mobile hit DragonVale, and announced its video gaming revenue had increased 19 percent in the last quarter.

"Hasbro makes games that we all know and love," said Ubisoft sales and marketing chief Tony Key. "We're thrilled to be able to work with them to create video game experiences based on some of their most popular brands."
