Call of Duty: Black Ops 2's final DLC pack gets a video preview

Treyarch has released a video preview of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2's final DLC pack Apocalypse, looking at the new maps and zombie campaign.

Apocalypse adds four new multiplayer arenas. "Pod" takes place in the remnants of a failed utopian village, and players will fight from pod home to pod home in a sequential progression of close, medium and long-ranged combat. "Frost" is set in Amsterdam following a snowstorm, and the map is divided in two, with a bridge over a frozen river acting as the midpoint. Players can use boats as cover and run across the ice to cross to the other side.

The other two maps draw various levels of inspiration from popular maps in previous Call of Duty titles. "Takeoff" is a new setting and look for the "Stadium" map, taking place on a rocket launching pad that floats in the middle of the ocean. "Dig" is an homage to the "Courtyard" map from Call of Duty: World at War, though design director David Vonderhaar says that it is its own map with its own lanes and battles. "Dig," says Vonderhaar, has become one of his favorite Call of Duty maps of all time.

Apocalypse also contains a brand-new Zombies campaign, called "Origins." True to its name, "Origins" marks the first meeting of the four zombie-fighters, set in an alternate-universe dieselpunk take on the first World War with thousand-foot tall robots.

Apocalypse hits Xbox Live on Aug. 27, and will launch on other platforms at later dates.
