The amazing, animated worlds of 10,000 video game screenshots

An anonymous Ubisoft developer by the username Noirlac turned more than 10,000 screenshots from retro games into standalone GIFs, Wired reports.

After choosing a character or environment to highlight, Noirlac adds a hint of movement with a GIF format. According to the artist, he wants to show people that "pixels in games [are] already art."

"I like to add some little glitches on my GIF to emulate life moments," Noirlac said. "Most of the time it takes no more than two to four frames, and it's done."

You can view Noirlac's work over at his Tumblr. Although Noirlac doesn't source his work, you can also check out a Tumblr dedicated to highlighting featured games.
