Band Stars coming to iOS in 2013 from Six Foot Kid, Halfbrick

Band Stars, the debut game from new Australian studio Six Foot Kid, will be released on iOS later this year and is being published by fellow Australian developer Halfbrick Studios, the companies announced today.

Halfbrick, the company behind hit mobile games such as Jetpack Joyride and Fruit Ninja, has not just been funding the development of Band Stars. The company said in a press release today that it "has worked in tandem with Six Foot Kid to bring Band Stars to life" over the past year and "guided" the development process. Halfbrick is also an investor in Six Foot Kid.

Band Stars tasks players with creating a band from a variety of available characters, and bringing the band into the studio to start recording songs that will hopefully become hits. Over time, you'll build a fan base with success on the local charts, and that will allow you to hire and train additional band members. None of this requires any innate musical talent on your part.

You can watch the debut trailer for Band Stars above. If you're located in the game's test markets, Australia and Canada, you can download the free game from the iTunes App Store today.
