Members of the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive community helped fund a prize pool for the DreamHack gaming tournament through their in-game purchases, Valve announced today.
A few weeks ago, Valve launched The Arms Deal update for CS: GO, which offers players special in-game items that they can spend money on. A portion of the sales revenue from those items went toward a tournament prize fund. A total of $250,000 was raised, and this amount will now serve as the prize pool for the 2013 DreamHack SteelSeries Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Championship.
DreamHack, a digital festival held in Jonkoping, Sweden, will run from Nov. 28 to Dec. 1. Information on ticket sales and registration for the event can be found here.
