Lightning is tasked with saving the souls of humanity's remnants in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13, but the most important — and most difficult — soul to save may be that of her former nemesis, the godlike Caius Ballad, according to the game's latest trailer.
The trailer above begins with an ominous message for our pink-haired heroine as she prepares for the end of the world: "There are no souls here for you to save, just dead people, waiting for the end to come."
Viewers are treated to another montage of Lightning in various costumes slashing down enemies and facing down the people standing in her way — the mysterious Lumina who bears an odd resemblance to her dead sister, Caius himself and her former companion, Snow Villiers.
For more details on Lightning's final mission, check out the trailer above, which debuted at the 2013 Tokyo Game Show. Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 will launch in Japan on Nov. 21 and in North America on Feb. 11, 2014.
