A new dev diary for Skylanders: Swap Force discusses how the third game in the toy-based series will be shaking things up.
A magical volcano that replenishes all of the magic in Skyland with its once-a-century eruption catches members of an elite Skylanders team in its blast. Rather than being incinerated, though, the Skylanders are given the ability to swap their top and bottom halves with one another. The top half determines how a character will fight, while the bottom half determines how they will move.
The game also includes existing Skylanders characters, re-rendered with higher graphic fidelity.
Skylanders: Swap Force will enable players to port their characters from Xbox 360 to PlayStation 3 and Nintendo 3DS, and vice versa. The 3DS game, however, is an entirely standalone title with its own unique story and levels.
Skylanders: Swap Force will hit current-gen platforms on Oct. 13, and will be a launch title for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
