VectorCell's remake of classic 1992 cinematic platformer Flashback is slated to launch on Steam for Windows PC on Oct. 1 and is currently available for pre-purchase for $11.95.
Flashback thrusts players into the role of Conrad B Hart, an amnesiac who must thwart the plot of shape-shifting aliens wanting to infiltrate the government and destroy Earth. As Hart, players adventure through the futuristic cyberpunk universe in order to regain the character's memories and ultimately stop the Morphs.
For more on Flashback, be sure to read our impressions of the title where we call the plot a "mash-up of They Live and Total Recall — but it works as cheesy retro sci-fi and fits the '90s vibe."
Flashback launched on Xbox Live Arcade on Aug. 22, with a PlayStation Network version arriving at a later date this year. Developed by Delphine Software, the original Flashback was released in 1992 for the Amiga, and later ported to MS-DOS, Acorn Archimedes, Sega Mega Drive/Genesis and Super Nintendo in 1993.
