Free-to-play action role-playing game Ascend: Hand of Kul will be released this week on Tuesday, Sept. 25 on Xbox 360, Microsoft's Major Nelson confirmed on his website today.

The game has been in closed beta testing since July. The latest update to the game, version 1.2, will go live this Wednesday for Xbox 360 owners. The online game is free to play, but requires an Xbox Live Gold account.

Ascend: Hand of Kul from Toy Soldiers developer Signal Studios was originally announced at E3 2012 under the name Ascend: New Gods, but underwent a title change this year. For more on the action RPG, read our E3 preview of the game.
