Assassin's Creed 4 trailer introduces the game's infamous pirates

A new trailer for Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag focuses on the men of the sea who will be fighting with (and perhaps against) protagonist Edward Kenway.

Edward himself is a man who was born in Wales but came to the Caribbean in search of fortune; his closest companion is the Jackdaw's quartermaster Adewale, who escaped slavery as a young man and serves to balance out Edward's hot temper.

Though Edward and Adewale are fictional, Edward Teach, better known as Blackbeard, was not. He used fear and his charisma to make a name for himself and dominate the pirate republic at Nassau. Benjamin Hornigold, on the other hand, was a more gentlemanly pirate who lived by a personal code of ethics.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will be a launch title for Xbox One and PlayStation 4; it launches on Wii U, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 Oct. 29. A PC version will be coming at a later date.
