NBA 2K14 dev diary explores the nature of the right thumbstick

A new developer diary for 2K's NBA 2K14 discusses the use of the right stick in gameplay.

While previous installments had used the stick for intuitive shots on the basket, passing and dribbling are just as much integral parts of the game as shooting is, and the developers didn't think they could develop that meaningfully without putting some functionality on the right stick.

By holding down a shoulder button, the right stick in NBA 2K14 becomes a pass stick, enabling players to easily toss passes that are as flashy and tight as they want.

NBA 2K14 hits Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC on Oct. 1, and will be a launch title for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on Nov. 22 and Nov. 15, respectively.
