PlayStation Plus subscribers will be offered fantasy RPG Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning for free, starting tomorrow.
The R.A. Salvatore-penned epic was launched in early 2012 by Electronic Arts and start-up developer 38 Studios. Despite a generally favorable reception, Amalur was a commercial failure. 38 Studios went under amidst a highly publicized funding scandal that embroiled senior politicians in the state of Rhode Island.
Reviewing the game for Polygon, Justin McElroy praised its lush, teeming world as well as its enjoyable core missions, but warned that diverting side-quests bloated the experience and diminished its enjoyment. He scored it a seven.
During October, Sony is also offering discounts to PS Plus subscribers for Flashback HD, Darksiders II, Red Faction: Armageddon and MX vs. ATV: Alive.
