Operation Supply Drop, a charity that sends video games to soldiers deployed in combat zones and recovering in military hospitals, will hold its second annual donation drive, “The 8-Bit Salute to Veterans Day,” Nov. 9-10, organizers announced today.

The 24-hour gaming marathon will last throughout the weekend preceding Veterans Day on Nov. 11. Those who wish to donate can sponsor the Call of Duty clans, League of Legends teams and more that will be participating.
“We set a high bar for ourselves last year raising $58,000 in games and gear, but 2013 has been an amazing year for the charity,” said the organization’s founder, Captain Stephen “Shanghai Six” Machuga. “We’ve doubled the number of supply drops we plan on sending to Afghanistan and Walter Reed Hospital, I’m confident we can make these numbers happen ... but we’re going to need some help.”
Last year’s event raised enough to send five supply drops to Afghanistan and a sixth to Walter Reed National Military Hospital. This year, organizers plan to send twelve supply drops worldwide, including two “fully outfitted Xbox One and PlayStation 4 kits” for each recovery wing in Walter Reed and Fort Belvoir Community Hospital.
