First Xbox One TV advertisement centers on NFL app integration

The first advertisement aired in the U.S. for Microsoft's next-generation console, the Xbox One, focusses on the console's integration with its NFL sports application.

Aired alongside the 2013 NFL Season's kick-off, the commercial features the upcoming NFL specific app. Microsoft will be launching two sports-centric apps on its next-gen hardware: an upgraded version of the existing ESPN experience and an NFL-specific app.

ESPN app on Xbox One will feature the same interface as the NFL app and retrieve users' preferences from their ESPN web accounts. NFL on Xbox One app is a live feed of the NFL Network, including the NFL RedZone. It also draws in content from the NFL website and NFL site fantasy football users will be able to track their teams and leagues.

"The NFL has tagged most of these [NFL] Network shows with rich metadata that allows us to pull content from NFL.com that's related to [them], so if you're watching a show, you'll see related content that you'll be able to put in the preview window," David Jurenka, director of sports at Xbox Entertainment Studios, told Polygon earlier this week.

The Xbox One apps for ESPN and the NFL will launch alongside the console on Nov. 22. For more information about both apps, be sure to read our in-depth report and interview with Jurenka.
