Speed runners raise more than $1M for charity

The livestreamers at Awesome Games Done Quick crossed the $1 million mark raising money for the Prevent Cancer Foundation, according to the organization's official site.

The milestone more than doubled AGDQ's goal of $500,000. As of this writing, the group's donation tracking page lists $1,014,209.32 in donations received. Of the 27,403 donations from 18,053 donors, the maximum donation was $10,000, while the average donation was $37.01.

The organization's most recent event, a seven-day livestream marathon called Awesome Games Done Quick 2014, ran from Jan. 5-11 and raised money for the nonprofit involved in community outreach, education and research.
