Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Online launching for Steam Early Access

Tactical third-person shooter Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Online will be available for Windows PC via Steam Early Access, Ubisoft announced today.

Ghost Recon Online is a team-based shooter in which players participate in 16-player matches. The game is available through Early Access in Canada today; a worldwide release is expected this spring. According to producer Corey Facteau, bringing Ghost Recon Online to Steam has been the team's goal since the game's inception.

"We took the time necessary to reach a quality level that can go head to head with the best online games available today before releasing on Steam," Facteau said. "As the top shooter for gamers who enjoy team gameplay, we have also seen our audience expand to include MOBA fans, who comprise fifty percent of our user base. To ensure a seamless transition to the new platform, we will use Early Access to fine tune the Ghost Recon Online experience before releasing it to the rest of the world."

Ghost Recon Online was released in open beta as a free-to-play shooter for Windows PC in 2012.
