Ludometrics will release its sports game "for people who don't necessarily like sports," Bodycheck, for the PlayStation Vita, founder David Thompson announced via the PlayStation Blog.
In Bodycheck, there are no rules against foul play. Players can and are encouraged to punch and scratch during matches or bribe timekeepers to their advantage. In a nod to tales from the Middle Ages, players can also cast spells to resurrect teammates, use items or attack other players.
"I find most sports games of recent years lack a certain something-something," Thompson wrote. "Perhaps they're not physical enough, or they manage not to capture the chaos of play, or sometimes they're just a bit ponderous. Bodycheck will (hopefully) contain that certain something-something."
Bodycheck will also feature multiplayer options, including four-way matches. Thompson added that matches will be shorter than typical sports games and will not include "that many players" on each team.
Ludometrics is aiming to release the game by Q3 2014.
