IGF announces 2014 Student Winners, including Risk of Rain

Independent Games Festival organizers announced the 12th annual Student Showcase winners today.

Judged by academics, developers and journalists, the final list was culled from 346 entries that spanned console, mobile and PC platforms. This year's winners, developers and associated universities include:

  • Cyber Heist from Hack n' Hide, University of Utah
  • Engare from Mahdi Bahrami and Moslem Rasouli, NHTV University of Applied Science
  • Foiled from Unblanched Peanuts, NYU
  • Museum of Simulation Technology from Albert Shih, Carnegie Mellon University, Entertainment Technology Center
  • Risk of Rain from Hopoo Games, University of Washington
  • Rhythm Doctor from Hafiz Azman and Winston Lee, University of Cambridge
  • Symmetrain from Philipp Beau and Daniel Goffin, University of Amsterdam / University Kassel
  • Westerado from OstrichBanditos, HKU

Honorable mention went to the following:

  • Bokida from Rice Cooker Republic, Institut de Création et d'Animation Numériques
  • Flying Fish from The Grey Room, The Academy of Interactive Entertainment
  • Ladylike from NinaFreeman, Emmett Butler, David Coss and Winnie Song, NYU, NYU Poly
  • Rabbit Rush from Caterpillar Lane at RMIT
  • UNEP from Ian Snyder, Kansas City Art Institute

The winners will be playable at GDC 2014, which will be held in San Francisco March 17-21, and Polygon will be there to bring you all the news.
