Aliens hit Alaska in Call of Duty: Ghosts' Extinction mode DLC

Samit Sarkar (he/him) is Polygon’s deputy managing editor. He has more than 15 years of experience covering video games, movies, television, and technology.

The first downloadable expansion for Call of Duty: Ghosts, the upcoming Onslaught DLC, will contain the first episode of new content for Extinction, in which aliens escape a research facility in Alaska.

In the first Extinction episode, "Nightfall," the four-person team in the co-op mode visits a remote research base in Alaska to fight aliens that have overwhelmed the scientists there. It's up to the soldiers to retrieve intel on the aliens, kill hordes of them (including a three-story-tall beast) and get out alive.

"Nightfall" is the first of four planned episodes of Extinction content, with each new piece of the co-op story debuting in the next three Ghosts DLC packs following the Jan. 28 release of Onslaught on Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Call of Duty: Ghosts is also available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U and Windows PC.
