The Last of Us: Left Behind is the final story DLC to come

Naughty's Dog's upcoming DLC The Last of Us: Left Behind will be the final story content for the game, according to a post by community strategist Eric Monacelli.

This first and last story DLC will be followed by multiplayer content, wrote Monacelli when answering fan comments on the official PlayStation Blog; However, the DLC will be a "good length," he continued, adding that this will depend on "how good you are and what difficulty you're playing at."

Left Behind takes place while Ellie is attending a military boarding school in the Boston quarantine zone, prior to meeting Joel and the events of The Last of Us. The DLC will focus on the bond between Ellie and her teenage friend Riley, with players taking on the role of Ellie throughout the campaign. Riley should be recognizable to comic fans of the Dark Horse series The Last of Us: American Dreams.

The game is described as more "playful" than the previous release, according to Ellie voice actress Ashley Johnson.

"It's definitely different," Johnson said. "It's a little bit more 'fun,' because you have two teenage girls going through a mall. It's kind of like a post-pandemic version of two teenage girls hanging out. Definitely not a normal hangout! It's very different — a little more playful."

The Last of Us: Left Behind comes to PlayStation 3 on Feb. 14. The add-on will cost $14.99.
