More than one million copies of Minecraft have been sold for the PlayStation 3, developer Mojang announced today.
The sandbox game launched on PS3 on Dec. 17, 2013, a bit more than a month ago. PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita versions have been promised for 2014.
Minecraft originally launched on Windows PC, Mac and Linux. The game received its first console port in May 2012 when developer 4J Studios brought the game to Xbox 360. The studio reported early last year that five million copies of the game were sold on Xbox 360 in 2012 alone.
Writing to Mojang's website, developer Daniel Kaplan said the sales figures are "crazy," given that the game launched on PS3 just before Christmas.
"We are super grateful for the support and we are very thankful for your dedication and I hope you will like the future updates we have planned for you," he said.
