DuckTales Remastered developer to make Wonder Momo game

WayForward, the American studio that worked on games like DuckTales Remastered and Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?!!, will work on a new Wonder Momo game, publisher Namco Bandai announced today.

Along with a new game, the publisher is also producing a Wonder Momo anime series.

According to the official Wonder Momo website, which at the time of writing appears to still be in the process of updating, the announcement of the game and anime is part of a "revival" of the Wonder Momo brand. It builds off the story that was established in the 2012 Wonder Momo webcomic and includes the anime, new music and a game.

Wonder Momo is a 1987 beat-'em-up arcade game that was exclusively published in Japan. It was ported to PC-Engine (known as the TurboGrafx-16 in North America) in 1989, and both versions are available on the Japanese Wii Virtual Console.

Today's announcement comes in the wake of a teaser Wonder Momo website that launched mid-January. The website has since been updated with information on the game, comic, music and characters.
