Zelda: A Link to the Past arrives on the Wii U eShop

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is now available to purchase in the Nintendo Wii U eShop.

The 1991 Super Nintendo adventure game and its Light and Dark Worlds are available for $7.99 in the Wii U eShop. You can see it in action on the Wii U in the trailer above.

Its direct sequel, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, was released last November for the Nintendo 3DS.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is part of the Wii U Virtual Console, which launched in spring 2013 and brought with it a slate of Nintendo Entertainment System and Super Nintendo Entertainment System games like Punch Out! Featuring Mr. Dream and Super Metroid. Yesterday, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata announced that the company will bring Nintendo DS titles to the Wii U Virtual Console.

Elsewhere in the eShop, Nintendo is offering 60 percent discounts on indie games like Gaijin Games' Bit.Trip Presents Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien and WayForward Technologies' Mighty Switch Force: Hyper Drive Edition.
