The latest video from the Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin'? creators, a short film based on Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, will premiere Jan. 16 during the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, Nintendo announced today.
Nintendo selected the Hey Ash crew's submission over 29 others in the Wii U Video Challenge last month, in which the company asked 30 YouTube content creators to produce brief videos based on The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and Super Mario 3D World. Then, the company teamed up the Hey Ash producers, led by the sibling duo of Anthony and Ashly Burch, with YouTube personality Freddie Wong. They created a short film inspired by Tropical Freeze.
The short film will debut at 10 p.m. ET in the Nintendo Chalet in Park City, where visitors will be able to get their hands on a variety of Wii U and Nintendo 3DS titles including Wii Fit U and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. Nintendo will release Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze on Feb. 21.
