Assassin's Creed Pirates first major update hits today

The first major update for mobile title Assassin's Creed Pirates hits today, bringing with it new missions for players to conquer and a heightened difficulty level, developer Ubisoft announced today.

The update includes a new map, Nassau, with more areas to explore, a new campaign mission and 10 side quests giving players the chance to find unlockable ships and treasure.

The Nassau map introduces more defense and dodging mechanics — which include teaching players more counterattack options and how to destroy cannonballs in mid flight — on a more challenging level. In a press statement, Ubisoft's notes the Nassau area will be "the most challenging play area yet."

Additionally, today's update integrates social features into the game, giving players the option to view and compare their own accomplishments against other players' stats.

Assassin's Creed Pirates launched last month for Android and iOS and is currently available through the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
