Prove yourself online in NBA 2K15's redesigned street basketball mode, MyPark

NBA 2K15 developer Visual Concepts revamped The Park, the online mode that debuted in NBA 2K14, and expanded it for this year's game into a battle for street basketball supremacy known as MyPark, publisher 2K Sports announced today.

The Park allowed NBA 2K14 players to take their created stars from the MyCareer mode into an online playground, where they could duke it out in games with street basketball rules. In NBA 2K15's MyPark mode, players will ally themselves with one of three clubs, each of which offers its own slight attribute boosts depending on play style. The Old Town Flyers raise playmaking and defense; the Rivet City Rough Riders bump up rebounding and athleticism; and the Sunset Beach Ballers increase outside and inside shooting.

Each of those factions runs its own home park with eight courts for you to play on. As you play you'll earn MyPark rep, a rating based not only on your win-loss record, but also your team play and the quality of your opponents. NBA 2K15 also allows you to form three-player squads, so you can keep playing with the same people. And if you don't have an interest in street basketball, MyPark includes a separate indoor play area, the Jordan Rec Center, which contains four full-sized hardwood courts for traditional 5-on-5 games with NBA rules.

Both outdoor and indoor games provide you with MyPark rep, and they both count toward the MyPark Championship. The competition, which will run from Oct. 11 to the weekend before the 2015 NBA All-Star Game, pits all three factions against each other on a week-to-week basis. The winning club will receive a second home park.

Players can't buy MyPark rep — it must be earned — but those who have a taste for gambling may be interested in The Stage. This part of MyPark is set on a city rooftop at night, and allows players to bet on themselves with VC, the in-game currency that you can buy with real money or earn within the game. The Stage will be exclusive to the PlayStation 4 version of NBA 2K15 for 30 days, and there's also a lifetime exclusive element to it on PS4: a High Rollers area where players can ante up for as much as 45,000 VC per game. Check out the video below for details on The Stage.

NBA 2K15 is set for release Oct. 7 on PlayStation 3, PS4, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. For more on the game, with specific notes regarding online play, check out our interview with Visual Concepts.
