Watch an hour of the Bloodborne alpha

From Software's Bloodborne for PlayStation 4 is currently being alpha tested by the developer, but not everyone has access to the early playable version of the dark Victorian action role-playing game. For those who didn't get in, they can live vicariously through the above playlist of Bloodborne alpha test footage, courtesy of YouTube user LiLAsN.

The alpha covers some familiar Bloodborne territory: It's set in the same section of the game seen in previous gameplay videos. But alpha players have access to some of the game's online features. In the videos above, you'll see what appear to be the specters of other players and online messages transmitted through otherworldly means, concepts familiar to players of From Software's Demon's Souls and Dark Souls.

There's a peek at some of the game's weapon loadouts, including the saw cleaver, kirkhammer and blunderbuss, though most of the videos focus on the heavier weapons.

Bloodborne will be release for PS4 on Feb. 6, 2015 in North America.
