Travel to Far Cry 4's Kyrat, and enjoy the hospitality of its psychopaths

With about a month to go until its launch, Far Cry 4 is introducing people to the game's setting, Kyrat, with a travelogue series built from in-game footage. Up first is the Lowlands.

It veers into Far Cry's brand of sociopathic violence about a minute in, when some guy in a gas mask breathes fire all over a hapless prisoner. That guy works for Paul Depleur, a grade-A sadist who works for Pagan Min, the freakshow we met in Far Cry 4's debut video at E3 2014.

Far Cry 4 launches on Nov. 18. Kyrat is based largely on Nepal, which Ubisoft's developers visited extensively (even watching a goat sacrifice) in building up the latest open world in the series. For more on Far Cry 4, which will launch on Playstation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, see Polygon's preview from E3 2014.
