Charli XCX crashes high school homecoming with a little help from Just Dance

Sure it's an obvious marketing ploy, but I bet the students at Aspire Pacific Academy in L.A. didn't really mind when they found out that Charli XCX was going to be playing their homecoming dance.

The 22-year-old Londoner, perhaps best known for co-writing and featuring on "I Love it" and "Fancy,"  popped up at the high school gym last night to perform those songs and others and then take over the DJ booth.

"Homecoming dances and proms are an American thing I've always been very fascinated with because all of my favorite movies end with a prom or something like that," Charli told the AP. "I was really excited because I thought it was going to be like my own 'Jawbreaker' moment."

The takeover at the small charter school was sponsored by Ubisoft and Just Dance 2015, which features some of Charli's songs. The event also included appearances by actress Bella Thorne and YouTuber Tyler Oakley.
