'The Social Network' writer confirms Christian Bale will play Steve Jobs in new film

Writer Aaron Sorkin confirmed rumors American Psycho actor Christian Bale will take on the lead role as Steve Jobs in an upcoming biopic about the Apple co-founder.

The West Wing writer told Bloomberg earlier today that Bale had not auditioned for the role, simply saying: "We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range and that's Chris Bale."

"He has more words to say in this movie than most people have in three movies combined," Sorkin continued. "There isn't a scene or a frame that he's not in. So it's an extremely difficult part and he is gonna crush it."

Sorkin is best known for his dialog-heavy scripts, with previous films including The Social Network and MoneyballHe is currently working on an adaptation of Walter Isaacson's 2011 biography Steve Jobs for Sony Corp. The film will begin shooting in the next few months.
