PlayStation Store now offers season passes to TV shows

Charlie Hall is Polygon’s tabletop editor. In 10-plus years as a journalist & photographer, he has covered simulation, strategy, and spacefaring games, as well as public policy.

Today the PlayStation Store will begin offering season passes to TV shows, according to the PlayStation Blog. The feature launches on the PlayStation 3 and via web and mobile, while the option will be available on PlayStation 4, Sony smart TVs and Blu-ray players at a later date.

PlayStation 4 users should note that while the option to buy a season isn't available through the user interface on the PS4 itself, they can use the web portal and then play shows through their console. Then fans of Once Upon a Time can receive new episodes the day after they appear on TV. Castle's current season is, however, inexplicably unavailable at this time.

Sony is running a sale right now on past seasons of The Walking Dead. Standard definition of the first season is only $10.99, while high definition is $14.99. The current season will run you $41.99, with most other shows around that same $40 mark.

The next level of puzzles.
