Lynch has hinted at a possible continuation to the series last year. In 2013, the director told Twin Peaks cast member Ray Wise a reboot was not off the cards, stating during a gala at the Orange County Museum of Modern Arts: "Well, Ray, you know, the town is still there. And I suppose it's possible that we could revisit it. Of course, you're already dead (...) but we could maybe work around that."

Twin Peaks first aired in 1990 and ran for two full seasons. The cult show follows the investigation of a murdered homecoming queen.
