Telltale's Game of Thrones will feature five playable characters from the same family

Telltale Games' forthcoming episodic Game of Thrones series will feature five playable characters from the same family. A company executive revealed the plan in an interview with International Business Times earlier today.

"We always will evolve our story-telling toolkit from game to game based on the needs of each franchise and the creative decisions we've made," said Telltale Games' senior vice president of publishing Steve Allison, referencing earlier games from the company. "For example, Tales from the Borderlands adds multi-protagonist storytelling for us layered into the tailored narrative design established with The Walking Dead and it works amazingly well with two playable characters.

"In Game of Thrones we're taking that multi-protagonist design even further with five playable characters from the same family whose choices affect everyone in the family, and that adds a whole new layer to things that we're really excited about," he said.

Though little is known about the project, the Game of Thrones series is due to be launched some time this year. In a previous teaser, Telltale posted a quote from from the latest Song of Ice and Fire novel by George R.R. Martin, A Dance with Dragons, which highlights the specific family name of Forrester.

"...Trackers and hunters sworn to Deepwood with clan names such as Forrester and Woods, Branch and Bole," the excerpt reads, with Forrester picked out in larger type.

House Forrester refers to a minor clan that is mentioned in the fantasy novel series but has yet to make an appearance in HBO's TV series. In the George R.R. Martin canon, the Forrester family is sworn to House Glover of Deepwood Motte, an area in the North that has made an appearance in both the books and show.
