Super Smash Bros., first amiibo hit Wii U Nov. 21, Captain Toad Dec. 5

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U hits North America on Nov. 21 and Europe on Dec. 5, and Captain Toad will be released on Dec. 5, in North America and in January in Europe, Nintendo announced this morning.

The first wave of Nintendo's interactive amiibo figures will also hit on Nov. 21 for $12.99 a pop in North America. The figures will hit Europe on Nov. 28. The first wave will include a dozen characters with a second wave of six hitting in December.

The first wave of amiibo includes Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Link, Fox, Samus, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, Pikachu, Kirby and Marth. The second wave that launches in December includes Zelda, Diddy Kong, Luigi, Little Mac, Pit and Captain Falcon.

Nintendo's amiibo figures were announced at E3 earlier this year. Players tap a figure on the Wii U GamePad controller to activate them in a game. Figures will do different things in different games. Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Mario Party 10, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and Yoshi's Woolly World were announced as games that support the figures.

Nintendo will also be releasing an adapter for the Wii U that allows players to use their Nintendo GameCube or WaveBird controllers with Super Smash Bros on Nov. 21. The adapter will sell $19.99 on its own. A new Nintendo GameCube controller sporting the Super Smash Bros. insignia will go on sale that day too for $29.99. You can pick up a special bundle of the game with the adapter and the special controller for $99.99.

Nintendo also announced that Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will sell for $39.99.
