I've only gotten my hands on a little bit of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. But from what little I've played, it's clear that 8-player smash is going to be a big deal.
I'm not very good at Smash. Actually, I'm terrible. So for me, much of the fun of the game is in setting up wacky scenarios and letting chaos rule. 8-player smash is perfect for this, since things often get so chaotic that it's difficult to tell where I am in the bedlam. I've played matches with 8 Gannondorfs, on the majestic Eldin bridge. With 8 Little Macs in the Battlefield arena. But nothing matched the sheer goofiness of the scenario I set up the other evening.
Seven rainbow-colored Donkey Kongs entered the classic Donkey Kong arena. One Diddy Kong (player controlled) joined the fray. The results were harried, colorful and cacophonous. They were also a riot for a long-time Donkey Kong fan.
