As you'll soon find out, Aava wasn't the Ivory King's only pet. The final boss fight pits you against Lud, the King's Pet and then, not long after, Zallen, the King's Pet, at the same time.
Both big cats have move sets similar to Aava, and your best bet is to lock on and stay behind them whenever you can. It's also possible to learn their physical attacks and roll through them, under or around you enemies, and to the relative safety of their backsides.
Though, as usual, summoning phantoms to help with the battle will give your enemies more health, they serve a valuable purpose in distracting them when you need to regain health … or composure.
For your troubles, you'll be rewarded with Soul of Lud, the King's Pet and Soul of Zallen, the King's Pet. You can trade both to Weaponsmith Ornifex, who lives by the Lower Brightstone Cove bonfire in Brightstone Cove Tseldora. Lud's soul will get you the Loyce Greatsword, while Zallen's will get you the Loyce Greatshield, both of which you can check out in the gallery below.
