This might be the name of Blizzard's new Hearthstone expansion

This past weekend, Blizzard teased Hearthstone news on the way at its upcoming BlizzCon fan festival. The developer has also said recently that a full expansion for the digital card game is on the way. Now we may have an idea of the name of that expansion.

PCGamesN reports that Blizzard has filed a trademark for something called "Eye of Azshara." Azshara is an area in World of Warcraft, as well as the name of a prominent character in Warcraft lore.

So why would we assume it's a Hearthstone add-on rather than another World of Warcraft expansion? The latter is definitely a possibility, but Blizzard is still preparing to release its upcoming fifth expansion to World of Warcraft, Warlords of Draenor, later this month. Historically the studio has held back from announcing future expansions until after the currently in-development set is already released.

That trend paired with the Hearthstone tease sent to various press outlets points to this title being tied to Hearthstone as the likeliest possibility. Then again, if anyone is impossible to predict, it's Blizzard.

Recent trademark filings at Blizzard also include something called "Overwatch," which is a little harder to guess at. PC Gamer notes, however, that the Overwatch filing does not list it as software, so it's not likely to be the name of a game or expansion pack.

BlizzCon's opening ceremonies take place this coming Friday, Nov. 7. Polygon will be there to report on whatever "Eye of Azshara" is as well as any other exciting announcements coming out of the event.
