This is Hatsune Miku, as envisioned by Tetsuya Nomura

Square Enix's Tetsuya Nomura, the man behind Kingdom Hearts, has been on something of a character redesign tear lately. He's re-imagined DC's Batman and Catwoman, and recently lent his creative direction to Japanese virtual pop idol Hatsune Miku.

The collaboration video above gives us a clear look at what the Final Fantasy character designer would do with Hatsune Miku, creatively. It was screened at a Hatsune Miku-themed art exhibition called "Universal Positivity" in New York City last month, which featured artwork from the character's original illustrators and other well-known artists. Miku also made her broadcast television debut in the U.S. last month with an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman.

Hatsune Miku's next video game, Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd, will be released in North America on PlayStation 3 and PS Vita on Nov. 18.
