Nintendo will release a software update for Wii U action game Hyrule Warriors that adds support for the company’s new line of toys, called amiibo. During a Nintendo Direct presentation today, the company explained what the NFC-powered toys will bring to the game: a new weapon dubbed the Spinner.
Hyrule Warriors’ amiibo support revealed

Borrowed from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, the Spinner is a powerful, top-like weapon that Link can ride into battle.
While Nintendo had previously confirmed that the Link amiibo figure would be supported by Hyrule Warriors, the company said that all amiibo that are compatible with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will work with the Legend of Zelda spin-off game. If players tap an amiibo figure on the Wii U GamePad’s NFC sensor, they’ll be rewarded with a randomly selected material, weapon or rupee.
The update for Hyrule Warriors is expected to hit this month. Here’s a video of Link’s new Spinner in action.
