Penny Arcade wrote a better story for Destiny than Bungie did

Samit Sarkar (he/him) is Polygon’s deputy managing editor. He has more than 15 years of experience covering video games, movies, television, and technology.

Destiny's threadbare story is particularly frustrating because it clearly contains the seeds of a tale that could have been enthralling, perhaps if it didn't take itself so seriously. Penny Arcade comes to the rescue today with a comic that, in 10 panels, captures the high points of Destiny — the existential dread, the mystery, the never-ending conflict — better (and more succinctly) than Bungie did in the game or its online-only Grimoire cards.

Today's comic was written by Mike Krahulik, who typically handles the art side while Jerry Holkins writes. The title? "Fan Fiction."
