Life is Strange's first episode arrives in late January, watch the debut trailer

The first episode of Life is Strange, the five-part adventure game from Remember Me developer Dontnod Entertainment, will be released Jan. 30, 2015, publisher Square Enix announced today.

Life is Strange will be available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The episode will cost $4.99 by itself, and players who buy it will be able to pick up a season pass for the remaining four episodes for an additional $16.99. Those who want to get the entire package from the start can save $1.99 and purchase the complete season bundle, which will be sold on all platforms except Xbox 360, for $19.99. Dontnod expects to release the episodes about six weeks apart.

The story of Life is Strange focuses on a teenage girl named Max Caulfield who lives in the fictional Pacific Northwest town of Arcadia Bay, Oregon. In an effort to reconnect with her estranged best friend, Chloe Price, Max helps Chloe look for a missing friend of hers named Rachel Amber. Max soon discovers that she can rewind time, which turns out to be the driving narrative force in this coming-of-age tale. Even with very few limits on how far back in time Max can go, the player's choices matter, said Dontnod in an interview with Polygon during New York Comic Con.
