The lightsaber reveal in the trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been... divisive. It seemed as if everyone had to weigh in, including Stephen Colbert. A new fan-made video asks the simple question: Just how silly can a lightsaber get?
Just how silly can a lightsaber get?

While I’ll admit that it would be fun to see someone actually use the lightsaber hula hoop and instantly be cut in two, I have to take a moment to direct your attention to a ‘saber that doesn’t get quite enough attention in these discussions.
The Inquisitor’s lightsaber from the wonderful Star Wars Rebels animated show features two blades, sure, but also a spinning design that gives it some extra defensive and visual flair.
There’s a scene later in the series where the Inquisitor uses a second lightsaber as an offensive weapon while keeping the spinning blade in his off-hand as a defensive tool. It’s a neat trick, although fans of bladed weapons will probably be quick to point out its shortcomings in actual combat.
If anything, it proves we’re not close to seeing the end of interesting lightsaber designs, even if fans may think things are getting a little out of hand.
